Performers Unite for Human Rights Cause at Public Assembly

 Fat Tuesday”  2/16   8pm-2am

Only $15 for a Full Night of Multi-Cultural Talents and Artistic Genres

This is the start of many wonderful events occurring in 2010. A group of bands are coming together to support the first of a series of global causes at Public Assembly in Williamsburg, Brooklyn on February 16 (“Fat Tuesday”) at 8pm.  In this cross-cultural world-themed Mardi Gras show, the artists will raise awareness of the incredible strength, courage and resiliency of women who continue to struggle in the war-torn Democratic Republic of Congo. Simon Kashama of the Pulitzer Prize winning play "Ruined" will lead the way.  The Mardi Gras traditional values of justice, faith and power (represented by the event’s traditional colors of purple, green and gold) will be celebrated through each band’s set prelude, which will include a cover song off the award-winning “Congo's Angels” CD – in remembrance and support of our Congolese sisters, as we continue to engender hope and faith for improvement of their current situation.

Incite to Insight World Arts Collaborative was conceptualized by Simon Kashama, Chuck Dorman, Jason Vitelli and Marianne Jaycox (see “About” section below).  This cross-cultural, multi-genre and globally focused project involves the collaboration of multifaceted artists performing unique combinations of music, art and dance.  The collaborative grew out of the artists’ joint agreement to address the changing needs of the world by engendering awareness, understanding and empathy towards our global human communities using artistic performances. The project celebrates unity within diversity.

We are encouraged to see international community recognition (High Commissioner's Office for Human Rights co-sponsors and Secretary General of the U.N. attends "Ruined" play) of the struggle of women in the Congo.
